Celebrity Chefs Help Local Schools
Date: 26/2/2007

This week the BBC report that a Devon celebrity chef has adopted a school for a year to offer them his expertise and assist in raising the quality of their school dinners.  You can read all about it on the BBC website: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/

Our own local top chef, Trevor Hancock, has been working with schools since the beginning of the '06-'07 school year.  Trevor trained at the Savoy, worked on the QE2 and currently owns his own hotel and runs an outside catering company.  Trevor is now working with the Education Catering team to offer extra training to every one of our cooks.  Each cook now attends a three day course with Trevor, held at Radbrook College, to help them learn new skills and improve their abilities in the kitchen.  Our aim is that these courses will become annual events so that cooks can continue to benefit from this ongoing skills training in addition to our existing rigorous training program.

We always like to hear what you think of our news items and the efforts that are being made to improve school dinners in Telford & Wrekin.  If you want to share your comments, compliments or complaints with us visit the Contact Us page.
