Primary pupils, parents and teachers can enjoy all the fun in the fair when they tap into the school meals website.
Based on the fun fair concept, www.myschoollunch.co.uk/bridgend , has a range of computer games for primary school children to play that are linked to the Welsh curriculum. Subjects including literacy, geography and science make the site an ideal tool for teachers to also use in the classroom.
There’s advice on diet, healthy eating and exercise as well as information on the school meals service in the Bridgend and the weekly menus. Parents can also contact Catering Services about their child’s diet.
This term a section has been added for primary pupils moving up to Comprehensive schools with plenty of information to help on their first day at their new school.
Bridgend County Council is hoping that the website will encourage more parents whose children are eligible for free meals to use the service.
‘We would be delighted to have more eligible children come for their school meal’ says Norma Griffiths, Group Manager of Catering Services “Not only would it save the parent’s money but also the hassle of preparing a packed lunch each morning”
