Mums and Dads of pupils in Penybont Primary, Bridgend were asked to bring their appetites with them when they came into school last month (Tuesday 28th and Wednesday 29th November).
Parents were treated to a school meal so they could taste for themselves the benefits of the schools new reduced fat menu which was introduced in October this year. They were served a full roast dinner that they ate with their children.
Headteacher Mr Britten says “The quality of food that our kitchen staff prepare is superb. Parents have had the opportunity to try it for themselves – which is the best advert we can have. The response from parents was extremely positive and everyone commented on the food. As one mum said, ‘It’s changed since I was in school’. We have seen numbers of children having dinners rise significantly as a result of this initiative and we are grateful to all the staff both in the kitchens and those based at Bridgend County Borough Council. We do however want to make a special mention of Mrs Paula Brotherton and Mrs Karen Griffiths our cooks. Their positive attitude and hard work made sure the day was a resounding success.”
