School canteens and dinner halls across Bridgend County Borough were overrun by superheroes. But they weren’t “normal” superheroes, they were “Healthy Heroes”, thanks to the latest healthy eating initiative from the council’s Catering Services department.

Jo Farrar, chief executive Bridgend County Borough Council:
“I was delighted to be asked to judge the "Healthy Heroes" competition and was really impressed by all the entries. A huge amount of thought and effort had obviously been put in and I hope that those who entered found it an enjoyable learning experience. It was very hard to choose the winners. I tried to focus on those who had a balance between healthy eating information and creativity. However, the standard was so high - it was a difficult decision to make. So, congratulations to all who took part.”
