Primary school children have been getting into the festive spirit by decorating the Christmas tree at Bridgend Recreation Centre in a bid to win prizes! 

Pupils were asked to design a tree decoration highlighting the importance of healthy eating in the latest healthy living initiative from the school meals service. 1

st place went to Thomas John from Mynydd Cynffig Junior School who’s decoration of a Christmas bell consisted of an egg, yoghurt pot and a pasta clapper. 

Thomas has won a VIP family ticket to the Odeon Cinema in Bridgend to see a film of his choice PLUS free refreshments and goody bags. 

And if that wasn’t enough, 47 other pupils through the borough have received 2 tickets each to a film of their choice at the Odeon Cinema in Bridgend.

The standard of entries was so high for the competition, it is clear to see that the children really have thought out what makes a healthy food.

I would like to thank everyone at the ODEON CINEMA in Bridgend for donating such wonderful prizes.  Without their generosity we would not be able to offer such fantastic incentives to the children of Bridgend county borough.” 

All decorations are on display in the reception area of  Bridgend Recreation Centre until the New Year.
