On the 25th of November, Bridgend school dinner ladies will be stepping out of their kitchens to attend Catering Services Annual Catering Awards in the Hi Tide Porthcawl which is sponsored by school meal suppliers.
Throughout the last year, the school meals service has seen vast changes in Primary and Comprehensive menus with the replacement of high salt, fat and sugar products with healthier products. School meals have also been highly topical in both the political and media arena, unfortunately not always being portrayed in positive light.
These are the very reasons why never before has it been so important for Catering Services to support and acknowledge their staff for their commitment to the school meals service.
Our staff have shown their dedication by rising above the negativity to actively work towards providing and promoting a healthier more efficient service. Thanks to kitchen teams perseverance and encouragement they are helping school meal pupils make the right choices.
The awards night is an opportunity for kitchen teams to be recognized for their achievements both on an individual and team basis. The annual event is kept fresh by the introduction of new awards such as ‘cook of the year’ and ensuring old favourites like ‘kitchen of the year’ are on the programme.
Norma Griffiths the Group Manager of Catering Services said:
“The Catering Business Awards is the highlight of the year! It is a chance to say thank you to the staff for their commitment, recognise their achievements and most importantly boost their moral. With nearly 200 attending this years event it is an excellent night for motivation, rewarding staff and time for them to socialise with their colleagues”
“The suppliers generously sponsor the evening and the staff enjoy the chance to relax and mingle with colleagues, suppliers, management, councilors & directors”
