The
aim of David’s Olympic Games
website is to help children understand
the importance of taking regular exercise
as part of a healthy lifestyle. The
site will also show them that if they
want to be really good at any sport
they have to work hard, be very dedicated,
eat the right foods and have some
clear goals about what they want to
achieve.
David is a fantastic role model.
He has already won a bronze medal
in the 1500 metres freestyle at the
Olympic Games in Athens. Now his sights
are firmly set on the Olympic Games
in 2008. Children can follow his progress
each month as he prepares for the
various events and competitions in
his build up for 2008. Everyone at
“My
School Lunch” wishes him
great success and will be cheering
him on all the way.
We hope that parents will become
involved and might cook the dishes
that David’s Mum has provided.
Teachers can visit and see what David
is doing and consider if they can
link it into any lesson plans. We
hope that more teaching resources
will be available in the Autumn Term
of 2005 but this does depend on us
obtaining further sponsorship.
This site has the full support of
the British Olympic Association (BOA).
The BOA raise the money for our team
to compete in the Olympic Games as
there is no Government funding. We
also have support from the British
Olympic Foundation (BOF), who promote
and educate people about the ideals
of the Olympic Games. You can find
out more about these two organisations
by clicking on the links below.
At the BOF teachers will find a range
of educational resources.
While on this website make sure you
look at the rest of www.myschoollunch.co.uk/caerphilly/en/
because there is lots of information
about school lunches in your area
and how they link in to healthy eating.
Parents and children can also visit
the funfair of games where you can
learn about food as you play and have
fun.
