Logo for NSMW 2009

We will be taking part in National School Meals Week (NSMW) from 9th to 13th November. This is an awareness week that promotes healthy and nutritious school food. It is organised by the Local Authority Caterers Association. To find out more and to vote for Britain's favourite school meal please go to www.iloveschoolmeals.co.uk.

In Caerphilly we will be taking part in the following events.

  • On Monday the result of Britain's favourite school meal will be announced. Voting closes at the end of October so there is still time to vote for your favourite school meal at www.iloveschoolmeals.co.uk/vote Please ask your child to vote too. There is the chance to win an Argos voucher.
  • On the Tuesday pupils can watch an online cookery demonstration by School Chef of the Year, Debbie Mumford. Children can see her cook her winning recipe and learn some basic cooking skills.
  • On Thursday we will be serving a special menu to celebrate National School Meals Week.
Our school cooks work so hard to prepare healthy and delicious school meals for your children.
  • On the Friday we will be asking them to make thank you cards for their school cooks. The templates will be downloaded from www.iloveschoolmeals.co.uk and children have the chance to win great prizes for the best cards.

Colin Jackson is supporting National School Meals Week and launching the event on Monday 9th November. During the week you will be able to see video clips of the launch and activities during the week at www.iloveschoolmeals.co.uk.
