Local apples juice up the menus
Date: 1/1/2007

Apple Juice will be appearing regularly on the menus in all Primary Schools in Cambridgeshire from January.  This addition to the menu is part of Cambridgeshire County Council’s policy to promote healthy eating in schools and provide enjoyable, nutritious meals at lunch time.

Hilary Witt, Head of Services, Catering and Cleaning Services, said “We are delighted to find a local supplier of apple juice at Watergull Orchard.  They only use apples grown in the County and we have worked closely with them to develop a blend of apples that is ideal for the palate of young children.”

The apple juice was trialled in a number of schools to find out the best blend of apples.  This meant the taste is sweeter without using any sugar or sweeteners and the final blend proved so popular it is now being introduced into every Primary School during January.”
