Olympic Medallist Launches School Meals Website
Date: 29/4/2009

Louis Smith, who won a bronze medal in gymnastics for Great Britain at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, will launch a new school meals website at Witchford Village College on 30th April.
The website at www.yougo4it.co.uk/cambridgeshire  helps young people to make healthy choices about their food and lifestyle. It includes competitions, podcasts, advice, and blogs from athletes including Louis, Tom Daley and Lucy Boggis on their training and nutrition regimes. There are also exercise ideas for warming up and cooling down that can be downloaded.

During his visit Louis will demonstrate his skills on the Pommel Horse as well as taking part in a question and answer session with pupils. At lunchtime he will join a group of pupils and for a school lunch and sign items.

Richard Ware, Head of Service, Cambridgeshire Catering and Cleaning Services added: "We have already used the Internet extensively in the Primary School sector with our award winning website at www.myschoollunch.co.uk/cambridgeshire. On there parents will see we are supporting Tom Daley in his quest to win a medal in London 2012. The new Secondary School website has been created by teenagers for teenagers, they were very heavily involved in approving the designs, writing copy and developing the concepts. The website lets the students see what is on the menu but has lots more exciting and useful information".
