Date: 18/11/2009

Well done to all the CCS contestants who took part in the School Chef of The Year 2010 Local Heat in Cambridge on Friday 6th November. This annual competition puts the preparation, cooking, creativity and presentation skills of school caterers to the test with each entrant required to produce, in just one and a half hours, a healthy balanced two-course meal comprising of a main course and dessert that would appeal to 11 year olds in school.

Congratulations goes to this year's winner, Hilary Hudson, School Caterer at St Mary and St John C of E School in North Luffenham, Rutland. Her winning menu was Goujons of Chicken served in a Wrap with Yoghurt and Mango Dressing, Potato Wedges, Carrots and Green Beans. This was followed by a Dark Chocolate Muffin with Beetroot.  Also participating was Sarah Marshall, School Caterer from Priory Junior School, who won Highly Commended for her dessert of Strawberry  Upside Down Yoghurt Cake served with a Strawberry Sauce and Custard.

Julia Wilson, peripatetic caterer from the March area received Highly Commended for her main course of Chicken Curry with Fruit Flat Bread and Samosas.  Hilary will go on to compete in the Regional Heat in the Spring.
