CHESHIRE’S NEW SCHOOL CHEF OF THE YEAR
Cheshire’s new School Chef of the Year is Becky Dukes from Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School.
Becky’s winning recipe was beef patties on a bed of tagliatelli with steamed vegetables and tomato sauce followed by summer fruit cheesecake with forest fruit coulis.
“I was really shocked at winning because I only entered the competition as experience for myself” said Becky. “I’m really proud of my achievement and am looking forward to taking part in the North West heat of the contest.”
One of the judges was County Council Chairman Neville Price who said: “The day provided yet another splendid showcase for Cheshire’s talented school chefs. “I would like to wish Becky all the very best in the North West heat “All the food created by the seven contestants was absolutely delicious and it was hard picking a winner.”
The North West regional heat takes place in March and has a record 10 contestants froms authorities around the Northwest.
Added Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School Headteacher Denis Oliver: “Becky has worked in the school for four years and in fact her mum has worked here for many years.
“We are all very proud of Becky and are delighted with her success.”
The highly commended main dish was won by Lesley MacAulay from St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, Crewe and the highly commended dessert was won by Sophie Fisher from Lacey Green Primary School, Wilmslow.
