We are passionate about our school meals. Each day highly trained and skilled staff prepare and cook high quality, locally sourced, seasonal produce. All our menus are planned in line with the Government's Nutritional Standards and are ‘tailor made' to suit each individual school taking into account the needs of the school, views of all customers and consultation with school councils.
Our healthy meals include:
• Fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables
• Salad bar as an optional extra
• Oily fish served at least once in the two week menu
• No more than 2 deep fried items per week
• Vegetarian choices / Halal / Special diets (as per the requirements of each school)
• Wholemeal or assorted freshly baked bread without spread
• Low salt, Low sugar, high fibre products
Kirklees School Catering Service holds the Food for Life Bronze Catering Mark Award which means in addition to the above all our menus:
• Contain no undesirable food additives
• Have at least 75% freshly prepared dishes
• Use meat which meets the UK welfare standards and eggs are from cage-free hens

We all know how difficult it can be to encourage children to make healthy choices, that's why the catering team is on hand to encourage your child to choose a healthy meal. Not only do they do this but they also offer lots of help and support to schools with initiatives such as cooking clubs and growing clubs where the produce grown in schools is cooked and served as part of the school meal. Members of the Catering team attend parent's events and are on hand to answer any questions you may have regarding the meals at your child's school.
Each term we run special theme days and promotions which can be educational and fun.
You can view your child's menu by clicking on ‘school menus' in the section links. Why not print it out so you can see what is being served every day.
