Know your choices
In Knowsley, we are proud to provide school lunches. We believe they are excellent value for money. They are nutritious, introduce children to dishes and food they might not otherwise try, and enable schools to make lunchtime part of the whole learning experience.

Nutritional issues
The catering service in Knowsley is committed to healthy eating. We work with schools and the Knowsley Healthy School Scheme to promote the health and welfare of our pupils. We pay particular attention to the nutritional quality of school meals and offer a balanced choice with lots of popular foods.
Making lunchtimes fun, interesting and educational
A well-fed child is a happy child. Eating is a sociable part of the day and our staff work hard to ensure your child enjoys lunchtime. We encourage children to try new food and often support what is being taught in the classroom with the food we serve.
Some of the many benefits of having a school lunch include:
- The meals are freshly cooked and prepared.
- We offer hot and cold choices with a selection of dessert, fresh fruit or yoghurt.
- Salad is available each day.
- Children can sit down together and enjoy their meal, whilst at the same time developing the social skills of eating together.
- A child that has had a healthy lunchtime meal is likely to be more alert for the afternoon’s activities.
- Time saved for you as you do not have to prepare a packed lunch, worry about what to put in it or wash up the dirty box and utensils.
You can help your child learn about healthy eating by encouraging them to play the games in the funfair. The games all link to the National Curriculum and there are different levels so your children can work their way through the games. Why not visit the funfair now and play the games with your child?
