Manchester Fayre Awarded for Excellence

Manchester City Council's catering team, Manchester Fayre, collected an award for their innovative and revolutionary school meals concept "Fresh Fayre".

The award was recognised as delivering excellence for service improvement at the local authority's in-house Awards for Excellence evening.

Manchester Fayre is responsible for delivering healthy and nutritious meals every day to nursery, primary and secondary school pupils across Manchester, including those with specific dietary requirements.

That's around 5,319,085 meals prepared and served each year by Manchester Fayre.

In addition to this, the team is also proactive in addressing health concerns and play a large part in encouraging the take-up of healthy food by running promotions and events in school to help educate young people about the importance of a balanced diet.

Steve Southern, Head of Catering at Manchester City Council said: "I'm really proud of all the team, who continue to deliver a first-class service right across the city. I see first-hand the amount of hard work and enthusiasm they put into their work and am so pleased they've received such fantastic recognition for their achievements."

Councillor Bernard Priest, Executive Member for Finance and Human Resources at Manchester City Council, with a responsibility for school meals said: "The Manchester Fayre team take their responsibilities very seriously to ensure they deliver nutritious, healthy food to youngsters throughout the city and in that they are wonderful ambassadors for the city council and the services we deliver. Their award is thoroughly deserved."

Awards for Excellence are held by Manchester City Council on an annual basis to recognise teams and individuals who deliver an excellent service and enhance the reputation of the organisation.
