Manchester School Dinner's to be made at home...

School's out for summer, but you can cook one of the recipes used in your child's school dinner menu from Manchester Fayre....

Let your child join in and enjoy making flapjacks.

Seeded flapjacks serves 5

Ingredients

65g low fat soft spread margarine

65g brown sugar

130g oats

1 tablespoon honey

2 tablespoons golden syrup

25g dried fruit (this can be a mixture, e.g. sultanas, raisins, cranberries etc.)

25g various toasted seeds (this can be sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds etc.)

half teaspoon ginger

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 180C, 350F or gas mark 4.
  2. Use a non-stick baking tin or tray if possible and grease with a little margarine.
  3. Heat the margarine, sugar, syrup, and honey in a pan until the margarine has melted. (You could also do this in the microwave).
  4. Put the oats, dried fruit, ginger and toasted seeds into a bowl. Pour the margarine mixture over. Mix well with a spoon.
  5. Scoop into your tray. Then press down until level and smooth.
  6. Bake for 25 minutes, until golden.
  7. Cut into squares whilst warm and then leave until it is cold.
