Manchester Fayre, the in-house school meal provider for Manchester City Council, is delighted to have won the Cost Sector Catering Marketing Award.
The team took the award for successfully developing a marketing strategy that launched Fresh Fayre, the new concept for primary school meals across the city. The campaign was designed to target the hard to reach market, who regularly brought cold lunches to school including cold leftover takeaway for their midday meal.
The Fresh Fayre menu offers different food stations for pupils including the Pasta Point, the Sandwich Station or the Cook's Choice.
This year's marketing award builds on the Education Award that Manchester Fayre won for Fresh Fayre at the Cost Sector Catering Awards 2009.
Manchester City Council and Manchester Fayre are extremely proud to collect this prestigious award ahead of outstanding public and private competitors and are pleased with the result of their innovative marketing campaign that has successfully raised the profile of the council's school meals and has increased take-up.
This second consecutive award for Manchester Fayre encourages them to continue developing marketing campaigns that support the school meals service to improve the health of pupils across Manchester.
Steve Southern, head of catering and town hall services for Manchester City Council said: "I am absolutely delighted and so proud of all the team to have won this award. We were up against some tough competition, whose campaigns had significantly larger budgets than our own, so to have ours announced as the winner was just fantastic. To win an award for the second consecutive year is a tremendous achievement by everyone involved and is a very welcome reward for the good progress we continue to make."
