Meat Free Monday is introduced in your child’s school.
Manchester Fayre is endorsing one day a week when meat will not be on your child’s school menu.
Every Monday there will be a variety of homemade, delicious, nutritious meat free dishes available on the menu.
Manchester Fayre is actively supporting national campaigns to promote healthy eating while helping to reduce global warming. It has been recognised that meat production puts harmful greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Too many greenhouse gases can cause climate change and the City Council want to help reduce this impact on the planet.
Meat Free Monday is about raising awareness for climate change and as your school meals provider, Manchester Fayre is positively embracing this on school menus across the city.
Meat Free Monday marks the start of the new Fresh Fayre menu for the Summer term. The new menus will begin on Monday 7th June. The new Fresh Fayre menus are able to view below.

Why not cook at home, with your child, one of the recipes that may feature on a Meat Free Monday:
Mediterranean Fish Serves 4
4 white fish fillets
1 large onion
1 tin chopped tomatoes
1 tbsp tomato puree
½ tsp dried mixed herbs
50g grated cheese
Method
1. Place fish portions on a lightly greased tin.
2. For the tomato topping: finely chop the onion, and fry in a little oil until soft. Drain the chopped tomatoes and combine together with the cooked onion, tomato puree and herbs.
3. Spread tomato mixture over the fish fillets and sprinkle with grated cheese.
4. Bake at 200oC, gas mark 6 for 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is golden and the fish is cooked.
