Council's Partnership is Working

Manchester Fayre, Manchester City Council's catering service department, have an award winner in their midst.

Steve Berry has received the Tradeperson of the Year Award at the 2010 Morrison Group Annual Awards.

Steve, who has been seconded to Manchester Fayre from Manchester Working, is employed to provide a first line reactive and responsive maintenance service to the city council's kitchens, particularly the catering equipment within schools across Manchester.

Councillor Bernard Priest, executive member for finance and human resources, with a responsibility for Manchester Fayre said: "Congratulations to Steve. He is an extremely well respected and valued member of the team, who ensures that the kitchens run smoothly at all our schools so that meals are always readily available when our pupils need them."

The relationship we have with Manchester Working is an excellent example of how organisations can work effectively together, in a way that is both efficient and cost effective."

Des Morris from Manchester Working said: "Steve's award is well deserved. As a long serving member of the team, Steve always carried out his duties to the highest of standards. I am pleased that his hard work and continual quest for excellence has gained recognition."

Steve Southern, head of catering and town hall services for Manchester City Council said: "Congratulations to Steve on a great achievement. He's a welcome addition to the team and it goes to show how successful working partnerships such as this can be."

Repairs and maintenance are one of the principal areas of Manchester Working's business across housing, public buildings and specialist services such as gas repair and lifts maintenance.
