Healthy eating made fun
Jessica meets the actors

Healthy eating was made fun for pupils at Leyburn when they were treated to a live theatre performance in school.

London-based Quantum Theatre Company visited Leyburn Community Primary School to stage their healthy living themed play, 'Captain Cholesterol and the Grannies from Mars'.

The performance was the prize won by six-year-old Jessica Parlour when she entered a National Healthy Schools Week competition run by North Yorkshire County Caterers.

County Coun John Watson, North Yorkshire County Council's executive member with responsibility for schools, said: "Concerns are constantly growing over record levels of childhood obesity and the link between poor diet in childhood and poor health in adulthood. So it's never been so important to teach youngsters about the importance of healthy living in a fun and engaging way.

"This is a perfect example of how we can do that and I'm sure Jessica's classmates will be thanking her for many lunchtimes to come."
