Children in Radford, Hyson Green and Lenton can get cooking this term as the Partnership Council and Nottingham City Catering Service have established a cookery course for Year 2 children.
The course runs in blocks with a different group of children every three weeks and will run until the end of term. The Partnership Council has obtained funding and will provide the food, and transport for the pupils. Djanogly School has provided the venue (most pupils will move up to this school in Year 7) Catering Services has provided the cooks to do the training.
Each group of fifteen pupils will be preparing:
- Sweet and sour stir fry vegetables with noodles
- Vegetable chilli wraps
- Salads
- Spicy potato wedges/sweet potato wedges
- Fruit kebabs
- Apricot cookies/ginger cookies
- Crudities and dips
- Fruit Sundae
Jacquie Blake, operations manager, Nottingham City Neighbourhood Services said: “The first session started on the 23rd April and went very well, everyone had great fun and enjoyed eating what they had made- there wasn’t a single fruit kebab left! It was a great success.”
