Why should I have a School Lunch?

  • Citywide Services offer a selection of freshly cooked main meals and a choice of pudding, fresh fruit or yoghurt. A salad bar is also available daily.

  • The nutrient based standards are in place and meet the government guidelines for September 2008.

  • All meals are nutritionally balanced over the course of one week and are served by helpful and understanding catering staff.

  • Salford is committed to healthy eating and works in partnership with school to promote the health and welfare of the pupils

  • Children can sit together and enjoy their meal, whilst at the same time developing those social skills of eating together that are so important in later life.

  • A well fed and happy child is more likely to be receptive to participating in the school’s afternoon activities

  • The school meal aims to provide 35% of all the essential nutritional requirements that will assist your child in leading a ‘bright and healthy’ lifestyle.

  • Have the benefits of someone else preparing and cooking lunch for your child which saves you worrying about a packed meal every day.
