In Southampton we continue to invest a great deal of time and resources into creating healthier menus and promoting healthier food choices to pupils. We work very closely with the Healthy Schools Coordinators to support the development of whole school Food and nutrition policies, which promote healthier lifestyles and help us to meet all aspects of the Government standards for food in schools.
We believe it is important to give parents and pupils the information they require to make informed choices and this is why we have continued to develop this section of our website.
Many parents , pupils and teachers have asked us to provide the nutritional content of the meals served and we are pleased to confirm that this provision is a feature in our menu section. If you roll your mouse over the menu items below you will see we have provided nutritional information about the food served. To help everyone understand the importance and relevance of this information we have provided guidance notes in a downloadable PDF file. You can download the file by clicking here.
Parents and pupils can be assured that as well as providing the nutrients required for healthy growth and development school meals also represent excellent value for money for the price of £1.85 a day. One more reason to opt for school meals.
The menu displayed is representative of the choices available in the current week and can be viewed from Saturday until Friday. Our full autumn / winter menu range, which runs until Easter 2012, can be viewed and downloaded by clicking on the link below:
