City Catering, Southampton City Council's in-house catering service is delighted to announce the winners of their "Design a School Meal" competition.
Over 500 Year 5 pupils, from Primary Schools from across Southampton, were asked to design either a main meal or dessert. School Chefs then sifted through the entries, which included some amazing dishes and chose the winners.
Calvin Nicholson, a pupil from Highfield CofE Primary School, won with his delicious main meal entry of Cheesy Leek & Bacon Pasta and Issabelle Tritten, a pupil from Townhill Junior School, won with her scrummy dessert of Saucy Lemon Sponge with Custard.
Both pupils were awarded with gift vouchers, with their respective schools receiving a Smoothie Maker, at a celebration lunch attended by their parents and Head Teachers as well as representatives of Solent NHS Trust and City Catering, which was held at Townhill Junior School. The winning entries now form part of City Caterings Winter Menu for Primary Schools so that all school children in the City can enjoy these delicious dishes.
