Hi everyone! This page is for me, Jack Rabbit, to keep you upto date with all the news about school meals in YOUR school. There's always so much going on in Surrey so I need you to keep contacting me to tell me what's happening where you are.

Christmas is nearly here. I have just finished school and what a busy term it was too. I went to a Christmas party, a Christmas disco and was in the school play. I also went to a pantomine too- the whole school went on a coach. It was very noisy, but lots and lots of fun. I am looking forward to spending Christmas Day with all my family, my aunties and uncles and grandma and grandad are all coming to warren to see us. I hope my mum has bought enough carrots to feed everyone! I am also looking forward to the new year. I haven't thought of any new years resolutions to make, but I am sure I will. Are you planning to make any resolutions? Let me know on my contact page. Anyway, got to go- lots of wrapping still to do. Have a great time, stay safe and see you in the new year. Jack.

Hi guys. Hope you are all OK. Just finished getting all the vegetables out of garden, well all but the leeks and parsnips. Dad says they always taste better after we have had a frost. We'd better have some this weekend, as it was really quite frosty this morning. I'm looking forward to next week. It's half term. Can't wait. Got lots planned, and mum is going to buy a pumpkin, so we can hollow it out and put a funny face in it. We then put a candle in it and put it on the doorstep. I like it when mum uses the inside to make pumpkin soup. Yummy. Why don't you ask your mum or dad to make some. I have put the recipe below. Have fun and will let you know what I have been doing soon. Take care. Jack
Pumpkin Soup (Serves 6)
2 tbsp oil
2 onions , finely chopped
1kg pumpkin peeled, deseeded and chopped into chunks
700ml vegetable stock or chicken stock
142ml pot double cream
-
Heat the oil in a large saucepan, then gently cook the onions for 5 mins, until soft but not coloured. Add the pumpkin to the pan, then carry on cooking for 8-10 mins, stirring occasionally until it starts to soften and turn golden.
- Pour the stock into the pan, then season with salt and pepper. Bring to the boil, then simmer for 10 mins until the pumpkin is very soft. Pour the cream into the pan, bring back to the boil, then purée with a hand blender. For an extra-velvety consistency you can now push the soup through a fine sieve into another pan. The soup can be frozen for up to 2 months.

Hi Guys, hope you are all having a lovely summer holiday. Nearly at the end now, but I've had a great time so far. We went and stayed in a caravan in Cornwall for a week and went to the beach every day. We went for lots of walks, and ate traditional cornish pasties, and had some Cornish clotted cream too- a great treat on top of a scone. We're now thinking about going back to school, and I have had to have a new uniform for September. I have grown out of my old one. Also I need new shoes, but it takes me ages to find a pair that fit, as I have such big feet! I have also got some new pens and pencils for the new term, lots of brightly coloured ones too. I'm looking forward to going back to school and seeing all my friends, but also now using my new pencils. What have you been up to over the summer? Why not send me a message on the contact page and let me know. Got to go now, lunch is ready. Take care, see you soon. Jack

The lighter mornings and evenings are here. Not long until the clocks go forward. I don't like having to get up an hour earlier, but if it means I can play outside for an extra hour after school then that is good. Did you know that there are 365 and a quarter days in each year? Of course we don't have quarter of a day, but we do 'save' them up and every four years we get an extra day. That year is called a leap year. Our next one is in 2012. Spring is also here, the first daffodils are starting to bloom, I saw the first lamb the other morning, and the trees are starting to get green. Its a great time to start getting ready for the summer, eating healthily and doing lots of exercise. I have started skipping, it's great fun and really good for you. Anyway, got to go. Take care. Jack

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Hope you all had a good festive period- we had a lovely roasted carrot with lots of other vegetables for Christmas dinner- yummy! There's lots going on this year, and we have already started getting ready for some of them. Mum and some of the other mums in our field are planning a special party for the Royal wedding this year. We are going to have party food and put up lots of decorations. It's going to be a very special day. We hope lots of people are going to join in. Are you doing anything to celebrate at school or at home? Let me know on my 'Tell Jack' page. We also are celebrating Chinese New Year at school in February and we are having special meal- Sweet and Sour Vegetables with noodles. I'm looking forward to that, but the noodles can be very messy! Will write again soon. Take care- Jack.
