School Nutrition Awards - Stephen Hawking School wins Gold

Date: 30/7/2007

The School Nutrition Award for Tower Hamlets is now entering its fourth year. It was developed by Children's Services Contract Services (the in-house school meal providers of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets Council) and the Community Dietitian (part of Bart’s and the London NHS Trust Nutrition and Dietetics Department). The award has been gaining increasing recognition within the primary and secondary schools in Tower Hamlets since it was started as well as a feature in a national association journal.

The award recognises the ‘whole school approach’ to food and nutrition issues within the local schools, providing recognition to the individual school catering service and nutrition-related activities e.g. breakfast clubs, tuck shops, water provision, organised within the school.

Sheena continues to know exactly what each of the children’s needs are in the school and provide individual meals for them all. Her memory must be fantastic.

The school speak very highly of her and are always delighted with the service provided.

Sheena and her team have won Gold awards on two previous occasions and this year there is no exception as they have made it three Golds in a row.
