Arabian Nights Lunch
Date: 16/11/2007

More than 60 local primary schools enjoyed a special Arabian feast on 14th / 15th November 2007, thanks to the catering team of Children's Services Contract Services.

The children and staff were able to tuck into their Arabian meal which consisted of Arabian Baked Fish, Lamb with Cous Cous, Spicy Vegetable Tagine and Tabbouleh Salad. Finishing off with an Egyptian Coconut Sponge with custard and fresh fruit platters the meals were enjoyed by all.

Children's Services Contract Services cater for 100% of primary schools within the Borough, and provides the borough's young people with more than 19,000 school lunches per day.

Head of the Service, Michael Hales, said: "This is the second time we have held an Arabian promotional themed lunch.  It has clearly been a huge success yet again.  We like to give our customers opportunities to try different, healthy and fun foods from around the world and we do this by hosting themed events every month.  I would like to thank the Heads of Kitchens and kitchen staff as without their commitment such events would not be possible.

A competition was held through the week where pupils were asked to decorate a colouring sheet of a back drop from an Arabian country.  Prizes for this competition will be drawn on the 26th November 2007 and each school will have a winner who will receive a pack of colouring pens or pencils.  There will also be prizes of 2 DVD Players, 2 Scooters, a CD Player for the five best entries borough wide.
