Eid Lunch 2008
Pupil enjoying his Eid lunch

Date: 16/10/2008

Students across the borough have been enjoying special lunches to celebrate Eid Ul Fitr.

Contract Services, the Borough's in-house catering provider, provided participating schools special themed lunches to celebrate the end of Ramadan.  Students enjoyed Homemade Curried Lamb and Tomato, Homemade Vegetable Biriyani, Yellow Rice, Naan Bread, Vegetable Pakoras and a variety of healthy salads.  The meal was complimented with a sponge cake served with custard with the inscription "Happy Eid" on the top.

The atmosphere was full of fun, as children were excited about this special day. Previously each child had been given an Eid activity sheet to complete.   Every completed entry is to be judged and the prizes awarded to winners and runners up. This year there are 5 street scooters to be won as well as a prize for all the selected runners up. Michael Hales, Head of Contract Services said, “This is one of our most popular celebration lunches of the year and it is lovely to see the pupils enjoying their meals and the competition we are holding this year will surely add to the excitement.  Of course it is my colleagues in the school kitchens that should be especially thanked for all their hard work in making it special for the school.”
