Piri Piri Portugal
Date: 13/11/2008

More than 50 local primary schools enjoyed a Piri Piri Portuguese feast this week, thanks to the catering team at Children's Services Contract Services (CSCS School Catering).   The children and staff were able to tuck into authentic Portuguese favourites, including Piri Piri Chicken, Baked Fish and an Omelette, which were all homemade using fresh ingredients. Finishing off with zesty orange sponge cake with custard and a fresh fruit platter. Head of the Service, Michael Hales, said: “This is the second time we have held a Portuguese themed lunch.  We do like to give the children what they want and our analysis from the last themed day showed it was a tremendous success.  The good thing about this menu is that it has been nutritionally balanced and tastes really good!” A special competition is being held throughout the week, where pupils have been asked to complete a word search of Portuguese cities.  The winners will each receive a pack of colouring pens or pencils and then all the winning entries will be placed into a draw and five lucky students will be selected at random and will each win a street scooter.
