In Warwickshire the popularity of the school lunch has grown significantly in recent years and we now cook and serve meals in over 230 schools throughout the County everyday.
Our menus - usually displayed next to the serving area - feature eye catching colour coding to help children choose one item from each of the main food groups. In this way we ensure the meal they eat is healthy and well balanced.

Our catering team work hard in partnership with teaching staff to encourage your child to adopt and develop a healthy lifestyle because we know how important it is for their future. We have introduced a cuddly character called Basil Bear our "Ambasador for Good Food and Health" to encourage children to learn about different foods and what makes up a balanced diet. He has his own club and features on our menus, promotions and posters as well as making personal appearances in schools from time to time (which the children love).
So when your child joins us for lunch they will:-
- Benefit from eating with their friends making lunchtimes more enjoyable.
- Develop tastes for different foods.
- Learn and develop confidence to make choices.
- Take part in fun activities and theme days that encourage your child to think about eating a balanced diet and having a healthy lifestyle.
- Join Basil's Club online and play fantastic educational games and enter competitions.
And don't forget the benefit to yourself! It can save you time, effort and money. For example, you won't have to worry about packed lunches anymore, or remember to make sure you have all the ingredients for a healthy lunch.
We cater for all your child's needs including special diets such as Coeliac and milk, egg or nut intolerance's. We also provide a daily meat free choice and Halal products where requested.
If you think you may be entitled to claim free school meals, your school can tell you all you need to know or you can telephone the County Council's Free School Meals Office on 01926 412396.
