The nutrient guide to the school meals menu for 2011/2012 is attached for you to view. It shows how the menu offered meets with all nutritional standards.
The nutrient analysis bar chart is taken from Saffron. (a computer package) Saffron analyses the full menu cycle against the nutrient based standards. The bar chart monitors for the 14 nutrients which are listed across the bottom and also 3 of the food based standards; fruit and vegetables portions, deep fried foods per week and oily fish per menu cycle.
The green bars indicate compliance with the nutrient and food based standards; any red bars would indicate non-compliance. Maximum levels are set for fat, saturated, non-milk extrinsic sugars and sodium; therefore these nutrients cannot exceed the standard set for them.Energy (kcals) can be 5% over the standard.
